AO North America Honors Dr. Keith Mayo with a 2026 Educator Award
April 27, 2026 – Wayne, PA — The AO North America community is set to come together at the OneAO® event in Tampa, FL, this April to celebrate the 2026 Educator Awards, honoring outstanding educators for their extraordinary contributions to medical education. These prestigious awards will recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to training physicians at every stage of their careers across a wide range of specialties, including orthopedic trauma, spine, craniomaxillofacial, hand surgery, and veterinary medicine.
Among this year’s distinguished honorees will be Keith Mayo, MD, an internationally recognized expert in orthopedic trauma surgery, who will receive the Jeff Mast Educator Award. Dr. Mayo has been selected for this honor in recognition of his long-standing dedication to medical education and his significant impact on the professional development of surgeons worldwide.
Dr. Mayo has built a distinguished career focused on the surgical management of acetabular and pelvis fractures and has been a pioneer in hip preservation surgery. His extensive training includes fellowship experience with Professor Reinhold Ganz in Switzerland and Professor Emile Letournel in Paris. Throughout his academic and clinical leadership roles at the University of Washington, Wayne State University, and Swedish Medical Center, Dr. Mayo has trained and mentored generations of surgeons.
The 2026 Educator Awards will spotlight those who exemplify excellence, innovation, and leadership in medical education. Dr. Mayo’s recognition underscores his enduring commitment to advancing orthopedic trauma education and improving patient care.
