Congratulations to this year’s AO Trauma North America Davos Fellows, who will be attending the AO Trauma Masterclass—Experts’ Strategies for Complex Cases in Davos, Switzerland! This weeklong program brings together emerging trauma surgeons from around the world for advanced education, case-based learning, and direct interaction with experienced AO faculty.
Participants engage in expert-led discussions, hands-on sessions, and a dedicated social and educational program designed specifically for AO TNA fellows. The Davos courses offer a valuable opportunity to learn alongside international peers and deepen involvement in the AO community.
Congratulations to our 2025 fellows:
Dr. Nicholas Andring
University of Arizona/Banner Health Tucson
Dr. Nicholas Andring is originally from the Pacific Northwest, where he completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Washington. His interest in orthopedic trauma began through his involvement with the trauma team at Harborview Medical Center. He went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, followed by an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Andring practices in Tucson, Arizona, at Banner Health/University of Arizona, where he focuses on complex traumatic reconstruction, including the use of arthroplasty for challenging cases. Working with residents and treating complex injuries are among his greatest professional interests. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and young son exploring the outdoors, trying new foods, and discovering new activities together.
Dr. James Brodell
Virginia Commonwealth University
Dr. James Brodell grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended medical school and residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He is the orthopaedic trauma fellow at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
Dr. Yash Chaudhry
Yale University
Dr. Yash Chaudhry is currently completing an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the Yale School of Medicine. His clinical interests include pelvic and acetabular trauma, periprosthetic fractures, and surgical education for the next generation of orthopedic surgeons. Outside of work, Dr. Chaudhry enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, their young son, and their dog, Moose—often in search of great coffee.
Dr. Elizabeth Duckworth
University of Southern California
Dr. Elizabeth Duckworth grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She earned her medical and business degrees in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before completing her orthopedic surgery residency in Austin, Texas. Dr. Duckworth is currently completing an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of Southern California/Los Angeles General Medical Center. One of her most memorable recent experiences was hiking West Maroon Pass to celebrate the completion of her residency with her family.
Dr. Nina Fisher
New York University/Bellevue Hospital Center
Dr. Nina Fisher is a graduate of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and completed her orthopedic surgery residency training at NYU Langone Orthopedics. She completed her trauma fellowship at the Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. She is currently working in New York City at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, a level 1 trauma center.
Dr. Ilexa Flagstad
Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Dr. Ilexa Flagstad is currently completing an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed her orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Flagstad holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Swenson College of Science and Engineering.
Dr. Lukas Foster
University of California, Davis
Dr. Lukas Foster is currently completing an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of California, Davis. Following the fellowship, he plans to practice as an orthopedic trauma surgeon in the Boise, Idaho area.
Dr. Heather Haeberle
University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston
Dr. Heather Haeberle is currently an orthopedic trauma fellow at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She completed her residency training at the Hospital for Special Surgery and attended medical school at the Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Catherine Hutchison
Indiana University
Dr. Catherine Hutchison grew up in Evanston, Illinois. Before beginning her medical career, she spent several years working at a ski resort and leading wilderness trips. She earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and completed her orthopedic surgery residency at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. Dr. Hutchison is currently completing an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Indiana University in Indianapolis.
Dr. Meghan McCaskey
University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston
Dr. Meghan McCaskey is originally from Dallas, Texas. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch and completed her orthopedic surgery residency at the University of South Florida–Florida Orthopaedic Institute. Dr. McCaskey is currently completing an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of Texas at Houston. Her career interests include orthopedic trauma with a secondary focus in arthroplasty.
Dr. Edmond O’Donnell
University of California Davis
Dr. Edmond O’Donnell is currently completing an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of California, Davis, and will pursue dual fellowship training in orthopedic oncology next year. Before beginning his medical career, he earned a PhD in molecular biology and remains actively involved in basic science research. Dr. O’Donnell lives in Sacramento, California, with his wife, Valerie, and their three children: 13-year-old Edmond and six-year-old twins, Adeline and Oliver.
Dr. Oliver Pearce
University of British Columbia
Dr. Oliver Pearce is a complex trauma surgeon with a specific interest in lower extremity injuries and foot & ankle trauma. He completed the AO North America Major Orthopaedic Trauma fellowship in Vancouver (2024/25).
